The hiring process with Camp Echo Lake is a personal, in-depth, and fun process. Here is what you can expect as you go through the hiring process:

• Read through the Camp Echo Lake website, especially the “Staff” section. Make sure you have a good picture of what Echo Lake is all about and what it means to be part of the Echo Lake Staff family

• Complete and submit the “Online Staff Application” in its entirety. The application is our first glimpse into who you are and if you are the right fit with Echo Lake staff. Please take the time to complete the application thoughtfully and completely.

• Once we receive your Staff Application, our Staff Coordinator, Laurie Rinke, will email or call you regarding your application and potentially ask you to contact us to have an initial conversation about you and camp and determine if you should go further in the hiring process. This is a great opportunity to ask any questions about camp that have not yet been answered for you and show us why we want you on staff at camp. This is also when you will discuss what positions you might be interested in and qualified for at camp.

• If you move forward in the process, you will schedule a day and time for a personal interview (on the phone or in person for approximately 60-90 minutes) with Laurie and discuss references. Laurie will then send you a reference form that you will need to have completed by three references (not family or friends) that can speak about your ability to work with children and live in a camp setting.

• You will have your personal interview that is your opportunity to show us why you are a perfect staff person for Echo Lake and for us to make sure you have a full picture of the camp experience as a staff person. Additionally, you will hear about staff orientation and staff salary and travel allowances.

• Once you have completed your interview and we have received all three of your references, we will then review your application, interview, references, and notes and let you know if we are going to offer you a position on staff with us for this coming summer.

• If you are hired you will then receive a staff contract and packet of great information about camp. From here, you are part of the Echo Lake Staff family and will receive regular emails from us, our quarterly camp newsletter, additional mailings, contact from other staff, access to our Staff Message Boards, and any additional information or assistance you may need!
