Camp Echo Lake’s historic strength in the outdoor program (called “Trek”) is a result of a long-time emphasis on offering campers amazing opportunities to hike, climb, mountain bike, cave and paddle—all in some of the country’s most beautiful landscape!

We are situated just 45 minutes from the Adirondack High Peaks area, world-renowned for it’s beauty and the challenges presented to outdoors sportspeople everywhere.

Age-appropriate trips and challenges:
The Trek program starts out offering our Juniors opportunities to explore nature in our very own “Bioquest” program, step out on day trips of hiking and tubing on the Hudson River, evening hikes up Hackensack Mountain, sleepouts in our own Trek outpost, experiencing their first climbs on our climbing and bouldering walls and mountain biking on junior-sized bikes on our campus’s own single-track trails—just to name a few.

Inters are exposed further to more challenging day trips, including hikes in the High Peaks, caving trips to the north and to the south of camp, mountain biking excursions to Saratoga, Thurman and beyond and paddling trips on the Hudson and Schroon rivers. Inters also have the opportunity to experience multi-day trips that could include rock climbing in the “Gunks” of Central New York, and backpacking the High Peaks region.

Our Seniors are offered Trek trips almost daily. Because our Sr. Program is largely elective-based, the opportunities to really challenge one’s self are always there. For our most advanced Trekkies, we offer our three incredible end-of-season “Great” trips, The Great Range (four days and three nights of serious backpacking), The Great Climb (four days and three nights of awesome rock climbing, and The Great Paddle (four days and three nights of incredible canoeing in the St. Lawrence area).

Topping it all off is the 4n4, for our campers entering 10th grade! Sandwiched between the beginning and end of camp in Warrensburg, our 4n4’s head out west for four weeks. Rock Climbing in Estes Park, rafting the Arkansas River, hiking in Arches National Park, horseback riding in Bryce Canyon National Park, Grand Canyon, Zion, Las Vegas, Yosemite, Santa Cruz—and finishing up in San Francisco! 28 days that goes so fast, your head spins!
