Something special happens when children share a song, act a scene, get up on stage, or sit down to create a work of art from their own imagination. There’s a budding grace in every child that deserves to be nurtured—whether it’s highest form is a silly dance or an original piece of music! Fine Arts: Boasting a brand new Indoor/Outdoor Fine Arts Center, our Fine Arts program runs the gamut from glass work, ceramics and woodworking, to traditional photography, painting, mixed media and eco-art. Campers get an opportunity to create in a comfortable, well-light space with an array of top-notch facilities and equipment. Theatre Arts: Anchored by an impressive outdoor amphitheatre, the Echo Lake theatre program offers children the chance to express themselves in performances, theatre and improvisation classes. For each age group, there is a large-scale theatre musical production, in which children can have speaking, signing and dancing roles. Echo Lake also offers theatre classes, so that children who express a keen interest in theatre and drama can pursue those interests outside the context of a show, and in smaller groups with one-on-one direction and instruction. Movement/Dance: From hip-hop to jazz to even ballet, Echo Lake’s dance program covers a wide range of dance genres. Our 2000 square foot dance studio is brightly paneled, well-lit and led by dance instructors who are both accomplished dancers and excellent instructors. Campers have the chance to choreograph their own dance routines in elective-style classes, and can present their routines to the entire camp. Music/Songwriting: In 2004, Echo Lake, working together with the Music Ascension Program (MAP) out of New York City, started a music program that features the finest musical teaching and equipment. Campers working with MAP instructors write their own music and then record using our state-of-the-art audio engineering system to create finished product CD’s that they take home with them. Our studio comes complete with drum set, bass guitar, two lead guitars and keyboard. “Friday Night Live!” And where does this all come together? Every Friday night at Echo Lake our campers perform —LIVE! Friday Night Live consists of acts across all creative arts areas – and then some. Songs performed by campers bands and jam groups, dancing choreographed by campers themselves, amazing magic tricks by budding camper magicians and even comedy routines. Friday Night Live is one of the week’s highlights at Echo Lake. Of course, the wonderful thing is that talent is not a prerequisite. We welcome everyone on stage who wants to be up there!
