The hallmarks of Athletics for boys and girls at Echo Lake are hands-on, age and skill appropriate instruction, top-notch facilities and a healthy dose of competitive opportunities. On the courts and fields at Echo Lake, sportsmanship, effort and teamwork are always emphasized!
Instruction and Skill Development:
In all of our athletic areas, campers are taught by Head Specialists and Activity Specialists with teaching and coaching experience. Our Head Specialists and Activity Specialists participate in a pre-camp teaching workshop led by Clive Hickson, our Program Director, that focuses on providing age and skill appropriate instruction, creating effective lesson plans and making learning fun!
As with everything at Echo Lake, the emphasis is always on the process first, and not on winning and losing.
Competition and Echo Lake:
All campers, regardless of skill level, are offered opportunities to compete, both in intracamp games with fellow campers and intercamp games with children from other camps.
Competitive experiences are the place where campers can challenge themselves, put to the test what they have learned, and have meaningful team experience. However, Echo Lake is a place where effort, teamwork and sportsmanship are the hallmarks of a terrific effort.
Winning and losing do not determine the value of the experience at Echo Lake, and when the games are over, we leave it on the fields and courts!
